Global citizen and designer pop star Karim Rashid remains committed to revolutionizing our imperfect world and is active in fields ranging from art and fashion to architectural projects. More than 4,000 designs in production, more than 300 awards and work in more than 40 countries testify to Karim's design legend.
His award-winning designs include luxury goods for Christofle, Veuve Clicquot and Alessi, products for Umbra, Bobble and 3M, furniture for Bonaldo and Vondom, lighting for Artemide and For Fontana Arte, high-tech products for Asus and Samsung, surface design for Marburg and Abet Laminati, brand identity for Citibank and Sony Ericsson and packaging for Method, Paris Baguette, Kenzo and for Hugo Boss.
Karim's designs are reflected in interiors such as the Morimoto restaurant in Philadelphia, the Semiramis hotel in Athens, the Nhow hotel in Berlin, the Universita metro station in Naples, as well as exhibition designs for Deutsche Bank and Audi. Karim's work is featured in 20 permanent collections, and he exhibits art in galleries around the world. Karim is a multi-time winner of Red Dot Award, Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award, ID Magazine Annual Design Review, IDSA Industrial Design Excellence Award.
He is a frequent guest lecturer at various universities and lectures at conferences, spreading the importance of design in everyday life globally. He has received honorary doctorates from OCAD, Toronto, and the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C. Karim has been featured in magazines and books including Time, Vogue, Esquire, GQ, Wallpaper and more.
Karim's latest monograph, XX (Design Media Publishing, 2015), contains 400 pages of work selected from his past 20 years. The other books are: From the Beginning: an oral history of Karim's life and inspiration (Forma, 2014), Sketch: 300 hand-drawn drawings (Frame Publishing, 2011), KarimSpace, featuring 36 of Karim's interior designs (Rizzoli, 2009), Create Your Own self', Karim's Guide to Life (Harper Collins, 2006), Digipop: A Digital Survey of Computer Graphics (Taschen, 2005), Compact Design Portfolio (Chronicle Books 2004), as well as two monographs, Evolution (Space, 2004 .) and "I want to change the world" (Rizzoli, 2001).
In her spare time, Karim's multifaceted flirtation with art, fashion and music is determined to creatively touch every facet of our physical and virtual landscape.
